Say No to Automatic Firmware Updates

Firmware issues have plagued the aftermarket industry for a while now. As more OEM's are using firmware to block aftermarket cartridges, it is important to avoid printer firmware updates, in particlar HP's most recent OfficeJet Pro printers and some of the smaller LaserJet Printers. They are distributed with an Automatic Firmware Update option that is set to "On" when a customer received the printer. This means that if you do not change the setting, the printer will automatically be updated with the latest firmware updates, potentially making aftermarket cartridges not work properly or at all in the printer, limiting your options. Some firmware updates must be initiated by the user from the control panel.

Navigate your way to the Dashboard -> Setup ->Printer Maintenance -> Update the Printer ->Update Options ->Select DO NOT CHECK -> It will notify you that HP recommends that you allow the printer to check for updates and will ask you do you want to turn on printer updates. Select No.

There are other methods you can use as well to stop Automatic Firware Updates. Control Panel to Dashboard ->Touch HP ePrint ->Touch OK->Select Do Not Check ->it will notify you that HP recommends that you allow the printer to check for updates and will ask you if you want to turn on printer updates. Select No.

To update the printer using the embedded web sefrver (EWS) Open the EWS - > select Tools tab -> in the printer Updates Section, click Firmware updates-> Under Printer updates section, click Firmware Updates -> Under Printer Update Options select Do Not Check for Updates and then select Apply ->A pop up window wil appear and notify you that HP recommends that you allow the printer to check for updates and will ask you if you want to turn on the printer updates. ->Select No.

We do not recommend firmware updates at any time and will not be held responsbile for the actions of doing so.

HP has released a firmware update in March of  2023 on the CF258/259 and W2020/30/40 series of cartridges used in the Hp M404 and M454 series of printers. The OEM Short code is HP 58/59 and HP 414/415/416.
How the firmware is delivered:
-The update is pushed over WiFi, a Pop-Up box will inform the user an update is available.
-If automatic updates are enables, this will be installed without user intervention.
-Minimal user intervention is required to enable the update installation.
-This update will ot effect installed cartridges but will impact new installation of cartridges of chips.

LASER RENEW LLC CONTINUES TO RECOMMEN ALL CUSTOMERS TURN AUTOMATIC UPDATES OFF AND WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CARTIDGES AFFECTED BY A FIRMWARE UPDATE.
